The Department was established in the year 1982 with an intake of 40 students and evolved to accommodate the present intake of 110 students offering undergraduate programme in Mechanical Engineering. The department was started with a mission to produce high quality technocrats and aims at continuous and qualitative progress.

Features

Department is having experienced, well qualified and specialized faculty to meet the changes as and when introduced. The faculty of this department are motivated to persue their Ph.D. to assimilate higher levels of knowledge and upgrade their teaching and training abilities.

• The Laboratory facilities include such as Computer Aided Engineering Drawing, Computer Aided Machine Drawing, Metrology, Material Testing, Heat Engine, Fluid Machines, Heat and Mass Transfer and Design Engineering Laboratory.
• The basic workshop in the form of Fitting and Welding, Sheet metal shop is good enough to cater the needs of all the first year students admitted into the college. Also it houses Foundry & Forging Lab and Smithy Lab for the benefit of higher classes of Mechanical Engineering.
• Major attraction of the department is Machine Shop with all the important Machine Tools.
• Software Engineering Laboratory, CAD/CAM centre is the soul of the Department with advanced packages like CATIA, Auto CAD, Solid EDGE & CNC Lathe and Milling Machines. LAN facility for 20 systems.
• High speed broad band internet connectivity is available.
• A well equipped Computer Aided Engineering drawing is another highlight of the department with 2 licensed solid edge packages, 30 each for both the laboratories with LAN facility for 30 systems.
• A well equipped Design Lab is another highlight of the Department with all recent equipments like Journal bearing test rig, Polariscope etc.
• Faculty equipped Seminar Hall exclusively for Mechanical Engineering Department with facilities like LCD Projector & Audio visual aids.

• Department Association called MESSA (Mechanical Engineering Students and Staff Associations) organizes industrial visits, seminars and takes up all types of extra curricular activities for the overall development of students.
• A separate students association library is provided with sufficient number of related textbooks, journals / magazines.
• The department is having Mechanical Engineering students Association, ISTE – Student Chapter, Akshay Urja Club (Renewable Energy Club) and Solar Park.
• Modern effective teaching aids like Models, Display Charts, LCD projectors & Audio visual system are available in the department.
• The department organizes Seminars, Workshops, Technical session to bring awareness among the students and faculty on various cutting edge technologies and deputes its faculty to attend the same at various ends.
• The department undertakes training regularly on Solid Modeling with CATIA, Solid Edge and other softwares on need based requirements. Department undertakes the fabrication and repair works as per the needs of the Institution and is planning to have consultancy work in fabrication, material test and other types of tests with available facility.
• Personalized counseling and parental care are made possible by the local guardian scheme.
