Prof. Shivananda Shyamaraya Prabhu passed B.E ( Electrical) from BDT Govt. Engineering College, Davangere in 1971, PGDBM (Equivalent to MBA) in 1977 from XLRI Jamshedpur and Cost Accounting (Inter) of ICWAI Kolkata in 1984. Also he passed LEAD assessors course for ISO 9001: 2000 in 2002 and industry sponsored diploma in Environment Management in 1996.

He has three decades of industry experience and over five year experience in academics. He worked for Tata Steel, Jamshedpur in the area of HR and Training, Auditing, Material Management, Operation &Maintenance, Value Engineering and Knowledge Management. He was Professor and Director of MBA programme at Institute of Professional Studies, Pimpri (Approved by AICTE and affiliated to Pune university) from March 2008 to February 2010, visiting Professor at Manipal Institute of Management and College of Allied Health Science and MIJM Manipal.

He published books and presented research papers in international seminars and guided research projects. He won awards for contribution to Knowledge Management and Business Excellence at corporate level in Tata Steel and State level awards during student days in essay writing and debating in Kannada, Hindi and English. He was Sub editor of Kannada newspaper NAVABHARATA and UDAYAVAANI in seventies.
